Training in the dojo has taught me many lessons that are equally applicable both in life and in the gym. One of those lessons is that when training with a partner (uke), it’s not really him or her that you are fighting against, it is yourself: your habits, your reactions, your anxieties and your fears. The battle may look like it’s taking place on the mats but in reality it takes place in the mind. That is where it is won or lost.

This has universal applications. All obstacles, all challenges and trials must be faced on the inside before they can be won on the outside. So what are your challenges? What are your inner obstacles?

• Maybe you feel you don’t deserve the body you’ve always wanted?
• Are you worried it’s going to be too hard? That you don’t have what it takes?
• Do you not have enough time? Or money?
• Have you decided you’ve missed your boat, that it’s just too late for you to be one of those “fit people”?
• Or are you listening to the naysayers out there telling you it can’t be done?
• Or maybe, like I was, you’re just a little scared. Scared of looking at who you want to be, how you want to look and feel in comparison to who you really are and how you actually feel about your health and your body…

Whatever your trial or struggle is, you are not alone! Millions have come before you, have faced the same challenges and found a way through to the other side to become the happy and healthy humans they were born to be! But how did they do this?

Well one option is to do it all on your own. You could do all of your own research, learn good exercise forms through trial and error and hopefully don’t hurt yourself in the process! And for some people this works. But if you’re like me (and most of the population) you have a job, or hobbies, or families, or friends, or numerous other things you would rather put that time and energy into. Luckily for all of us there is a way to fast track our health and fitness! And it’s the same method I use to fast track my martial arts training. It’s simple really, you find a good teacher! Find someone who has already made all the mistakes and who wants to help you.

I can be this person for you. I’ve already done the study and have the fitness qualifications so you don’t have to. Let me do the research, the thinking and the planning before each session so all you have to do is rock up, do the work and go home feeling fantastic!

Sebastian studied fitness at Fitlink Australia- the only independent college with over 25 years’ experience in training personal trainers. He is a qualified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor who is currently completing his Exercise Specialist qualifications. Sebastian has a wide-ranging personal interest in physical activities which have included:

• Completing 100 hours training at the Australian Stunt Academy
• Attaining qualifications in advanced Abseiling and Belaying
• Holding a current Level 2 Diver qualification through PADI
• Holding a 1st Kyu rank in Bujinkan Ninjutsu
• Being an active member in the Obstacle Course Racing Association of Australia, regularly competing in events such as the Spartan Race
• Being a long time hobbyist fire-twirler
